voteAs the general election draws nearer it seems Bermuda's environment has taken a back seat to pressing economic concerns. Greenrock would like to emphasise the importance of environmental issues and highlight initiatives that will promote sustainable living, and even reduce the cost of living.

saltusWR2As part of Partner Re's "Dollars for Hours" program, Greenrock teamed up with Saltus seniors and faculty and Windreach Bermuda and spent the better part of two days clearing inavsive plants and trees from the latter's home on Spice Hill in Warwick.

Catlin_Community_GardenGreenrock remains committed to inspire and facilitate local communities to develop produce gardens. Greenrock's Healthy Harvest team, and volunteers from Catlin and the Sunshine League recently spent the day cleaning up and preparing the Catlin Sunshine League Community Garden.

Energy_Limbo_WinnersLast month, we reported on the Dept of Energy's competition Energy Limbo – How Low Can You Go?

The winners were announced at last week's CARICOM Energy Week.

Edwin and Shirley Ann Smith were the overall winners of the Energy Limbo, reducing their energy consumption by 38 per cent over a 10-month period. Mrs Smith received her certificate from Marc Bean, Minister of Environment, Planning & Infrastructure Strategy.
