Sea Dragon Visits Bermuda

sea dragon st georgeOver the past two years Pangaea Exploration's Sea Dragon has sailed a staggering 50,000 miles over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans carrying out important research on the state of our shared marine environment.

The Sea Dragon is visiting Bermuda from 18th May to 10th June, 2013. BASS welcomes Sea Dragon and looks forward to your participation in the many events planned during the visit to highlight the richness and importance of the Sargasso Sea.

Support is growing for our petition to curb demand for singe-use bags in Bermuda by introducing a 25c fee per bag at point-of-sale.

B.E.S.T. (Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce) expressed their unequivocal support commenting "Totally agree and fully support!". Today, The Royal Gazette added their support stating "This newspaper fully supports this petition."

Earth Day Student Video Competition Winners Announced

film_reel_genericGreenrock and the Bermuda National Trust announced the winners in this year’s Earth Day Student Video Competition, with students from BHS, Dellwood and Warwick Academy making the top three.

This year there were 12 videos submitted, and 35 students were involved from public and private schools across the island. The competition gives students a voice to share their ideas and concerns in a creative medium...

Earth Hour Expo a Great Success

eh_fire_jugglingThe Earth Hour Expo was held at City Hall on March 23rd, hosted by Greenrock and the Earth Hour Council.

At 8pm the Deputy Mayor, Donal Smith welcomed the assembled crowd of about 600 and was joined by Minister Grant Gibbons who expressed the Government's commitment to saving energy both within Government and for Bermuda as a whole.
