Greenrock, in partnership with The Bermuda National Trust, are proud to announce the second annual Earth Day Student Video Competition.

Students are invited to create a 2-4 minute video on the topic "What should we be doing for the Earth". We are encouraging students to think creatively, to take action and to make and edit a video to enter the competition.

Registration of student entries closes on February 4th.

Video submission deadline is March 25th.

Lara Hetzel of BHS was awarded first place prize in last year's competition for her video 'Plastic Bag'.

All of the 2012 entries can be viewed here.

School staff, particularly science, technology, and social studies teachers, are encouraged to include the video as part of the curriculum: perhaps as a way to write up an experiment, a project or a piece of coursework.

Schools are also encouraged to designate an "Earth Day" assembly between April 16th and 26th to showcase the students' videos. Either ask your students to show their video, or we would be happy to make a presentation.

And finally, we are asking principals and teachers to consider allowing students to have an "Earth Day grub day" with the suggestion that money raised be donated to The Bermuda National Trust and Greenrock to support this competition and other sustainability initiatives.
