Greenrock's Executive Director, representing Greenrock on the Committee, noted:
"Too many people pay lip service to the environment and sustainability issues. It is a welcome sign that the Cross Island Legacy Committee not only has environment issues as part of its matrix but has also pro-actively reached out to an organization such as Greenrock," he said.
"I'd like to thank BEST for raising the importance of having environmental representation on the committee, and the Committee themselves for acting on that recommendation. I look forward to contributing where I am able."
The appointment followed an earlier public consultation event where both BEST and Greenrock raised concerns about the lack of an environmentalist voice on the Committee.
Members of the public are invited to make suggestions on what they think would be the best use for the area, with a deadline for submissions of July 31st, 2016.
Forms for submitting ideas are available online here, and also at all post-offices.
