Welcome to Greenrock

Greenrock is working to empower individuals and companies to do their part in making Bermuda socially, economically and environmentally more sustainable.

Greenrock and the Bermuda National Trust invited students to enter videos on the theme "What should we be doing differently to save the Earth?" This year 10 videos were made by middle and high school students from around the island, competing for prizes ranging from a Dolphinquest encounter to a tour of the seamy underside of Casemates Prison.

Students were asked to make a 2-4 minute video saying what they think needs changing and how this can be achieved. The videos were judged based on their creativity, their ability to convey a message, and how informative they are. All videos will be screened and prizes awarded at the Film Festival at the Bermuda College on Earth Day, Monday April 22nd, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in Room H100.

Judith Landsberg, Greenrock President, commented "We hear constantly about how bad things are for our planet; if things are going to change then our young people are the ones to make it happen. We think the health of the planet is important, but it is even more important to our children and students; they have to live with the consequences of our decisions. This is an opportunity to hear from them and hear their ideas." Cindy Corday, Bermuda National Trust Director of Education also commented "Many students are technologically-savvy and interested in having a voice. This experience is a creative way to tie technology to a very important issue that will ultimately have an impact on their future."

The competition has been supported by Dolphinquest, the National Museum of Bermuda and the Bermuda College, Division of Liberal Arts.
