This January marked the second year of the programme, and all eleven countries convened in Bologna, Italy, hosted by the Italian delivery partners, InEuropa, to discuss the successes, challenges and future of the program.

The three-day conference proved extremely useful and informative, with common challenges identified, as well as the potential for the next few years of the program mapped out.

This program has particular relevance for Bermuda, with our historical (and continuing) challenges regarding water.

Perhaps more than any other country involved in the program, Bermuda is particularly vulnerable to water issues, and while water sustainability has been part of most resident's daily life, we know that more can, and needs, to be done.

To this degree, Greenrock welcomes the announcement in December (following on from the Throne Speech) that the Government is committed to developing a 20 year water strategy for Bermuda.

Greenrock looks forward to further developing this programme in Bermuda, and continues to learn from the experiences of our colleagues delivering the programme elsewhere, while also sharing our own experiences. Bermuda has the potential to really take the lead in this initiative due to our historical focus on water sustainability, and the Government's commitment to water sustainability on a national level.

The programme is open to 8-14 year olds, and is currently involving 16 schools in Bermuda, representing 50% of schools serving this age group in Bermuda. Of these, 70% are public schools.
