GWAwinners

The 2015 Green Workplace Awards were held on Friday, February 19th, kindly hosted by HSBC Bermuda at their Harbourview building.

This now biennial event began in 2011 to both highlight and reward progress towards a more sustainable workplace. Initially an annual event, it was switched to a biennial event as of 2013 as part of a slew of changes to Greenrock at that time.

green-buildings1Our biennial Green Workplace Awards (GWA) are back! The deadline is quite close, but you still have time to enter your workplace, and to nominate a Green Champion if you know someone who is committed to changing minds and behaviour in your workplace.

The deadline for applying for this year's Awards is December 15th, and the full rules and application/ nomination process can be found on our website.

secondlevel greenIn our March Green Building Forum we had two presentations:

The first by Doug Soares, of Expertise Limited, on motivating change in organizations

The second was a presentation from Dan Lovett of Endurance on their Waste Audit

energy-costs1Why just talk about energy when what people really need is comfort?

For example, when researching Reinventing Fire we spoke with a regional insulation installer who says he never needs to bring up energy to make a sale. He walks into a potential customer's house, finds an overly chilly (often north facing) room and says, "Is this space uncomfortable? I bet you don't use this room much."

landlord_tenants_reportOver the past decade, many commercial real estate leaders have been demonstrating the environmental and financial benefits of energy-efficient buildings. As a result, more and more building owners and tenants have been searching for the game changers that will result in widespread reductions in building energy use.
